Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are topically applied formulas that revitalize the skin’s surface by creating a controlled shedding of the outermost layer of the skin. This allows new layers to be exposed, creating a fresh appearance and smoother texture to the skin’s surface. During your initial consultation with one of our medical spa aestheticians, you should explain the level of skin improvement you hope to achieve. Together we can discuss the advantages of chemical peels and determine the proper peel for your skin conditions and cosmetic goals. A chemical peel can improve the appearance caused by sun damage, acne scarring, blotchy pigmentation, fine wrinkling and early pre-cancerous skin lesions. A peel can also improve acne-prone skin and clogged pores. Before choosing which chemical peel is right for you, read our blog post about it here

Basic types of chemical peels include:

Light Exfoliating Peels
Light peels are great for patients new to chemical peels. ADSCA provides lactic, glycolic and salicylic peels. During your consultation, we will work with you to determine the appropriate peel or combination of peels for your particular skin conditions and concerns. For maximum results, light peels should be done every two weeks in a series of up to six treatments. These peels can improve mild to moderate cases of acne, soften the look of fine lines and even improve skin texture. Patients can expect minimal to no downtime after the procedure.

Modified Jessner’s Peels
The Modified Jessner’s Peel is blend of salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol. Resorcinol allows acids to penetrate evenly and deeper than light peels for better results. This peel is great for reducing acne, and can also be beneficial in diminishing the appearance of sun damage and decreasing the appearance of fine lines. Patients may experience some peeling and flaking within three to five days after the procedure.

TCA Peel
The TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel has an even deeper peeling depth. We offer 10 percent, 15 percent and 20 percent TCA peels. This peel is great for improving skin texture, superficial blemishes and pigmentation problems. TCA is used on the face and other areas of the body, such as the hands, forearms and chest. Patients can expect three to seven days of downtime after the procedure.

The effects of a chemical peel can be maximized when combined with a personalized skin care regimen.
